All anime lovers know Naruto. The two original series, Naruto and Naruto Shippuden reveal the story of Naruto Uzumaki and how he became the Hokage.
In this post, we will touch upon some of the details of Naruto, where he hailed from, and what adversities he had to endure before he became the Hokage.
Who Is Naruto Uzumaki?
Naruto Uzumaki is a Shinobi who hails from the Hidden Leaf village. At the beginning of the series, he appears to be a brat, short-tempered, with no promising talent. People also avoid him as he is the nine-tail jinchuriki.
Naruto is an orphan living alone, always thinking about his insecurities and why people won’t warm up to him. This was the primary reason why at the beginning his future as a Ninja didn’t look promising.
But soon things started to look up once he found out how much Iruka sensei trusts him. Out of sheer affection and willpower, Naruto attempts the shadow clone technique to defend Iruka and defeat Mizuki who was a Chunin.
Since then he starts trusting people, makes new friends, and at a later stage saves the village from the villainous Pain.
How Old Is Naruto Uzumaki?
The story of Naruto Uzumaki is narrated in three series and many standalone movies. However, the series covers his core storyline.
At the start of the series, Naruto is a 12-year-old kid. The series covers Naruto’s story till he turns 13.
At the end of the series, Naruto trains with Master Jiraiya for two long years and returns to the Hidden leaf village, and this is where Naruto Shippuden picks up the storyline.
In Naruto Shippuden, Naruto is 15 years old. Shippuden shows a more mature and able Naruto. He is way calmer and more confident in his abilities. The show starts with Naruto’s homecoming and captures the Ninja war, and the last episode gives us a glimpse of his marriage with Hinata. At the end of Shippuden, Naruto Uzumaki is roughly 17 years old.
The series Boruto picks up after 15 years. At this time Naruto is around 32 years old. He is a father of 2 children, Boruto Uzumaki, and Himawari Uzumaki, and also the Hokage of the Hidden Leaf village.
Who Are The Naruto Uzumaki Clan Members?
The Uzumaki clan hails from Uzushiogakure. However, the country gets destroyed due to multiple battles. That’s why the Uzumaki clan members migrated to Konohagakure.
Throughout the series, we got a glimpse of many Uzumaki clan members but their whereabouts have been fleeting. Here’s a sneak peek into each of them
Fans get a glimpse of Fuso during Nagato’s origin story. Unlike other Uzumaki members, Fuso lived in Amegakure. She gets murdered by Konohagakure shinobi during the second great Ninja war.
Nagato, her son sees the whole incident and out of pure rage kills every assailant on the spot.
Nagato, also referred to as Pain is one of the strongest members of the Uzumaki clan. After seeing Konohagakure shinobi kill his family he avenges their death. He could also use the Rinnegan lent by Madara Uchiha.
After his family’s death, he meets Konan and Yahiko and creates the Akatsuki. Initially, they receive training from master Jiraiya who teaches them the basics of Ninjutsu and how to control and effectively use one’s chakra.
After Jiraiya left they perfected their Ninjutsu and their group started fighting to withhold peace in Amegakure. Later, Yahiko’s death changes Nagato to the core and turns him into a stone-cold assassin.
Ashina Uzumaki hails from Uzushiogakure. He was the leader of the Uzumaki clan and had close ties with Hashirama, the First Hokage of Konohagakure.
He is known for his mastery of Fuinjutsu which comes in handy to seal beasts in Jinchuriki. The storyline hasn’t revealed much about his family or their life.
Karin flaunts the beautiful signature red hair associated with the Uzumaki clan. We get the first glimpse of Karin when she is working with Orochimaru. Later when Sasuke defeats Orochimaru, Karin joins his team.
She is a sensory ninja and can track someone by sensing their chakra. She has impressive vitality and her blood can help rejuvenate any wounded person. At the end of the fourth Ninja war, she joins Orochimaru.
Mito Uzumaki is the wife of Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage of Konohagakure. Due to her original and incredible vitality, she was chosen to be a jinchuriki.
She was successfully able to keep the tailed beast sealed in herself until she transferred the beast to Kushina.
Kushina was still a kid when she came to Konoha. She was brought to the village so that the tailed beast from Mito could be passed on to her. As a kid, she was quite rebellious and that is where she first met Minato.
Soon after she was made the jinchuriki, she fell in love with Minato and married him. On the day she was giving birth to Naruto, her seal was getting weak and this is when Obito Uchiha stepped in and released the tailed beast. Ultimately Minato and Kushina gave up their life to save the village and seal the tailed beast into the infant Naruto.
Naruto Uzumaki is the protagonist of the series and is the son of Minato and Kushina. On the day of his birth, his parents gave up their life to save the village and seal the nine-tail beast in Naruto.
Growing up an orphan was tough on Naruto. And being a jinchuriki only added to his problems. People were afraid of him and steered away from him. But gradually he made new friends, created new bonds and united the villagers, and saved them on multiple occasions.
Hinata hails from the Hyuga clan and has mastery over the Byakugan. Growing up she became fond of Naruto and always supported him no matter what others said. When Pain attacked the village she stood her ground and was ready to give up her life to save Naruto.
At the end of the Fourth Great Ninja war, she married Naruto and became an Uzumaki. Naruto and Hinata have 2 children, Boruto and Himawari.
Boruto is the son of Naruto and Hinata. He is also the protagonist of the series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Even though unlike his father he doesn’t possess tail beast chakra, still he can make multiple shadow clones of himself without depleting himself.
He is considered to be a prodigy and is righteous just like his parents.
Himawari is also a prodigy. She is the youngest child of Hinata and Naruto. Even though she hasn’t been enrolled in the Academy, she can control her Byakugun. When she awakened her Byakugan for the first time, she was able to knock off Naruto.
She has a bright future and will turn out to be an exceptional Kunoichi.
Who Has Naruto Fought So Far?
Naruto’s ultimate goal was to be the Hokage, but the journey wasn’t easy. He met a number of foes, sometimes he bested them, and sometimes had to admit defeat. But this is how he sharpened his skill and found what he really wanted to do in his life.
Here are some of the major fights of Naruto Uzumaki that shaped his character
Naruto Vs Gaara
Gaara was the jinchuriki of the one-tail and when he got angry he would let the beast run amok and take control of him. That’s how intense Gaara was while fighting Naruto.
At this stage, Naruto wasn’t able to control the nine-tail, but thanks to his summoning jutsu, he stood toe to toe with Gaara and defeated him. After the battle, Gaara learned how important it is to care for someone we love. After the fight, Gaara and Naruto became good friends and later Gaara became the Hokage of his village.
Naruto vs Sasuke
In this battle, Naruto leveraged his one-tail cloak while Sasuke used the curse mark given by Orochimaru to level up his power manyfold. The fight between these two was spectacular for many reasons.
While Naruto was hell-bent on rescuing Sasuke from the clutches of Orochimaru, Sasuke blinded by his rage for Itachi wanted all the powers that Orochimaru had to offer. Both wanted different things but neither wanted to admit defeat. Ultimately Sasuke came out victorious.
Naruto vs Orochimaru
Naruto fought Orochimaru with the tailed beast cloak and he was so powerful that he could stand toe to toe against Orochimaru. Using the nine-tailed chakra he rendered severe damage to Orochimaru.
Naruto’s attacks compelled Orochimaru to change bodies just so he can stand up to his tailed beast bombs. But finally the tailed-beast cloak started inflicting damage on Naruto and others intervened to stop Naruto’s rampage. This is when Orochimaru fled.
Naruto vs Pain
Personally, I find the fight between Pain and Naruto to be the best fight that Shippuden had to offer. The Hidden leaf village was reduced to rubble, Naruto was able to perfect his Sage mode (to some extent), Hinata gave up her life to save Naruto, and Kakashi died.
And this is when Naruto loses his cool and releases the nine-tail. The graphics, especially at the beginning, are simply stunning. In the end, Naruto makes a truce with Nagato (Pain) and resurrects the whole village, and gets the recognition he had been seeking since his childhood.
Kakashi Team 7 vs Kaguya
Honestly, I still don’t get how Team 7 defeated Kaguya and broke the Infinite Tsukuyomi. However, in this fight, Naruto, Sasuke, Obito, and Kakashi set aside their differences and coordinated their attacks perfectly to defeat Kaguya.
Kaguya was only defeated when Naruto and Sasuke touched her at the same time. She was the final entity that Naruto and his team had to defeat to bring an end to the Fourth Ninja war.
Naruto vs Sasuke: Final Fight
This was the last fight in Naruto Shippuden. After defeating Kaguya, Naruto and Sasuke thought of settling their differences the only way they knew. By fighting till the end. After battling Kaguya they both were running on fumes.
But still, they gave their all and each lost an arm in the process. And that’s how they mended their bond.
Hokage Naruto Uzumaki
After the fourth Ninja War, Kakashi gave up his position as a Hokage and named Naruto as the seventh Hokage. Till then Naruto had been battle tested and was quite aware of his strengths and weaknesses.
He knew that even though he had a vast reserve of chakra and the nine-tail by his side, he wasn’t that good at making strategies. That’s why he appointed Shikamaru as his adviser to take care of tricky situations.
By the time Naruto was appointed as Hokage, he was well-known and had many friends across different nations. This helped him strengthen ties with his village and ensure a prosperous future.
Finally, Naruto Uzumaki married Hinata and had two children, Boruto and Himawari. Boruto: Naruto Next Generation is all about Boruto’s adventures and how he deals with his prodigy status. It has Naruto too.
